Sometimes it is really difficult to find the energy or motivation to workout. Have you ever tried to run on a treadmill with NO music? Whenever my battery dies at the gym on my Ipod and I’m only 5 minutes into my workout, I want to cry. Exercise can be such drudgery without the right workout beats to keep you motivated! So here is a compilation of the best workout music and songs for you based on your emotions and mood!
Feel Good, Upbeat Pop Playlist
So you feel just fine but want some fun workout music to dance to? Here are my favorites.
1. Selena Gomez – I Want You to Know
Love this song! It has a powerful punch, fast beats, and a great chorus that you can run to.
2. Bonnie McKee – American Girl
This one starts off a bit slow but then continues to a fast beat with a catchy chorus and fun lyrics. Just the kind of song I like to listen to when doing cardio.
Oh So Angry Hits
In a bad mood? Maybe just got in an argument with a friend, co-worker or partner? Let’s work it off with some angry tunes with fast beats that will help you burn those calories!
1. Nine Inch Nails – The Hand That Feeds
My ex introduced me to this song, and when we broke up 5 years ago, I pretty much listened to all of his music while getting over him.
2. Guano Apes- Open Your Eyes
This one is great because the lead singer is a woman. The song has great beats to it but also an edge to help you push harder and harnessing that anger!
Oh So in Love List
Have the hots for someone? Can’t get him and her out of your mind? You might enjoy these workout hits to exercise to while thinking of your crush.
1. Carly Rae Jepsen – This Kiss
Poor Carly is in love with some dude and wants to kiss him even though she has a boyfriend. Um, maybe not a good message but man, this song is sure catchy!
2. Anjulie – You And I
I like to start my warm-up with this one. It starts slowly but breaks out into a chorus with great beats that you can really move/dance to!
Just Broke Up or Just Got Dumped Playlist
Boo! I’m sorry you’re going through this. But you need to harness this energy and pour it into exercise and working out. Oftentimes, this type of despair will make you want to reach for the fridge and down a bottle of wine or eat a pint of ice cream. But that behavior will just make you sink further and further in a downward spiral resulting in depression and further weight gain. Take advantage of this opportunity while you are unattached. Think of how much more time you have now, and use this time to exercise and take care of yourself. Plus, in a few months when your ex-partner checks you out on social media, they’ll be gobsmacked at how you look in your tight summer dress or bikini. How’s that for motivation?
1. G.R.L. – Vacation
This pop song is all about wanting to lay in bed all day after a break-up but then charges into a powerful chorus about going out on the town and forgetting about the guy who hurt you. It has some awesome beats and a chorus you can really run, jog or do aerobics to!
2. Pixie Lott – All About Tonight
This song has a slow start and good for doing a warm-up before it hits the main verses. It’s all about getting over your ex-boyfriend by going to a club and partying. Picture yourself in your tight mini dress dancing the night away and keep running!
3. Orianthi – According To You
This one is all about a woman who used to be talked down to a lot by her partner, but has found a new partner who thinks the world of her. A great tune for someone who is having a rough time letting go of an ex.
That’s it for this first edition of workout music and songs! I generally listen to all of them on the same playlist because I typically find myself feeling all of the above emotions at the same time, haha! What are your favorite songs to exercise to?
